How do you write when it’s this nice out? There is no way I can stare at this computer screen when the sun is shining and the birds are singing. I’d rather do yard work than write. There’s some irises that need planting, and some shrubs that need trimming. Maybe I can go to Home Depot and buy some more mulch. Anything but write. Not today.
Yet, here I am squeezing out another blog post. But why? Because I’m addicted that’s why. It’s a healthy addiction… I think. I’ve been writing for so long now that my day doesn’t feel complete without scratching out a few paragraphs. Even when I’m just rambling it feels good. I don’t have to build a character, or follow a plot. Sometimes just being me is good enough. There is something here that keeps my creativity sharp.
As far as novel writing goes, I’m still searching for a new idea. I’m taking long walks around the lake, unplugging, and just thinking to myself. Sometimes the craziest ideas come to mind. One of these days the block will dissolve, and I’ll discover my next novel plot. Until then I will stumble blindly forward, and practice writing whenever I can. But not ALL day. It’s so nice out!
