The Mighty Pencil

I've been avoiding my laptop lately and instead using the old pencil and paper. I'm redrafting a manuscript that I finished last spring. It's printed out and all scratched up. The work has been very productive. It's refreshing to not stare at a screen all day, or get distracted by the internet. And there's something so empowering about reading my own handwriting, instead of a generic computer font. There's only one person in the world who has handwriting like mine. My scribbles give me comfort and confidence. Soon I'll be done, and will have to transfer my mess into font. That will not be an easy task. And soon I'll be longing for the paper days again.
